If you haven't heard the rumors already. Madonna is apparently a fan of (or at least familiar with) Death Note.
She cosplayed as Mello in one of her music videos.
She had a huge 
sign behind her in the same music video.
This music video took place in Japan, so apparently they must have known what the recognized L-symbol meant there.
Supposedly she admitted in an interview that she likes Death Note and that Mello is her favorite character.
Supposedly she has also been seen reading a Death Note manga in public.
